| Maciek Jasik Bypassing The Rational Exhibition Dates: November 8 - December 22, 2012 Daniel Cooney Fine Art is very excited to announce the debut solo exhibition by Maciek Jasik titled Bypassing The Rational. The large scale, vibrantly colored figurative photographs offer the viewer limited physical information about the subject. Within this separate, seemingly endless world, subtle gestures and unreal body configurations thus gain great influence, combining with the vivid color to create a wide array of emotional responses. Post-Impressionist painting's emphasis on color and emotionality initially inspired the series; subsequently elements from Francis Bacon and contemporary painters like Odd Nerdrum, Nicola Samori and Alex Kanevsky informed Jasik's artistic process. By employing the spontaneous capture of photography with the surreal color palette of painting, he has uniquely blended the two mediums. Maciek Jasik was born in Poland and received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Film and Media Studies at Johns Hopkins University in 2000. He has exhibited his work across the country in numerous group shows. His artwork and editorial work has been published in Bloomberg Businessweek, Bullett Magazine, Empty Kingdom, Beautiful Decay and ABCnews.com. Jasik's work is also in the collections of many prestigious private collections. Daniel John Gadd Paintings Exhibition Dates: November 1 - December 22, 20 Daniel Cooney Fine Art is pleased to announce the debut solo exhibition of paintings by Daniel John Gadd. This also marks the first occasion in the gallery's seven-year history that we have held a solo painting exhibition. Gadd's thickly layered paintings act as personal snapshots of his everyday life. Portraits of friends, still life's made at his grandmother's home and landscapes of the Jersey Shore. The paintings are purely autobiographical and act as a journal of a young man at the beginning of an adult life. Images of people from his early life mix with images of a new and future life. Still life's and landscapes of the past intermix with the current. The paintings themselves are thick with paint and objects such as glass, glitter, string and sand. These objects are often a result of the artist's time at the beach and sometimes (in the case of the sand) as a result of working while at the beach itself. Additionally, the artist sometimes carves into the paintings. Daniel John Gadd is a native of New Jersey where he currently lives and works. He is a 2009 graduate of the School of Visual Arts where he received a BFA in Painting. He has exhibited his work in many group shows across the country and is included in many private collections. | ||||
