Image Nos. 2 – 20 show a selection from the 100 works that make up the painting half of The Studio – two bodies of water – 2014
The Studio – two bodies of water is a work derived from a desire to alter the status of the studio works in situ and disperse it en masse. The entire work comprises 100 paintings with 1,000 drawings is to be sold as one piece or in two separate parts.
Works vary in size from 15cm x 25cm to 150 cm x 100cm.
Until recently, I have been making drawings and paintings in the studio, using these to produce temporary and contingent groups of works in exhibitions. Now I want to develop the studio practice in other directions, including, for example, photo collage, alongside aspects of drawing and painting. The sale of The Studio – two bodies of water has the function of a complete dispersal of these two reservoirs – this being an inevitable necessity and natural progression. The individual works within each body are varied in technique, reference, style and size. It is difference that produces non-visual aspects across the body of works – productive discrepancies. Like a piece of wood, it varies in density. |
